Dive team this week - Lots going on
Good afternoon families and Happy 4th of July!
Apologies first - I am sorry I didn’t send an email to let everyone know that we were not having practice yesterday morning. We always give a 4 day weekend for the 4th of July. It was my fault for not reminding everyone and updating the website and for that I apologize.
This week!
This week we have a lot going on with an A meet away on Tuesday and a make up A meet at home on Wednesday. I will have some news on the away meet Tuesday against Hunt Valley at some point during this weekend.
I have already changed the date for the Make Up meet against Lee Graham to Wednesday July 9th at 6 pm. Info about the meet is the same as I had sent out last week, but I will send it out again on Monday night in case we have more divers that become eligible. But please go in and ensure that the jobs you had previously signed up for still work this coming Wednesday the 9th, because the jobs did not refresh when I changed the date.
LIP SYNC
Next Thursday July 10th, 2025 is the annual Lip Sync on the front lawn weather permitting or in the club house starting at 5:30 pm. Please ensure that you go in and sign up to help the coaches set up and clean up following the Lip Sync. We will have some cold drinks and snack available during the Lip Sync. I can’t wait to see everybody’s performances that they have been working so hard on this season!
Cracker Jack
Next Sunday July 13th is Cracker Jack at North Springfield.
What is Cracker Jack?
At one time this was the largest single day dive meet in the country. I’m not sure if that’s still true, but it is a BIG meet. This is a fabulous meet for all divers of any age to give them a chance to compete in a large individual meet against divers representing all 48 teams in the league. The eligibility rules and dive requirements have been modified from regular meets to maximize participation and competitive balance. Also, divers compete in age groups that better align with their chronological age, so 8 year olds, 9 year olds, etc compete against each other, as opposed to a large 10 and under group.
The meet runs all day from about 8:00AM to 1:00PM, but your diver would only have to be there for the scheduled time of their age group.
We usually send 8-10 kids to Cracker Jack each year.
Any diver who attends The Divisional meet cannot also attend Cracker Jack. We will send out the Divisional roster very soon and then anyone interested in diving in Cracker Jack needs to sign up online, but anyone diving in B Meet and that has not placed in an A Meet is welcome to sign up. Please see this year’s flyer attached.
Happy Independence Day and enjoy the weekend! Good luck to our Wally Martin divers this Sunday!
Kindest regards,
June
